EasyPrep: Colonoscopy is a free app available from the App Store. It has a 5 star rating, however, only has one review. This 5.4MB app is provided by Geisinger System Services.
Users may find EasyPrep helpful when unfamiliar with what to do before and after a colonoscopy, and what to expect. The app offers an About page with colonoscopy-related articles. Perhaps the most beneficial part is the scheduling component that makes setting and keeping appointments easy. Other than these two benefits, the advantages of the EasyPrep app are rather limited.
The articles from EasyPrep provide useful information on how to best prepare for a colonoscopy. They are divided into 4 pages:
- Bowel Preparation
- Day of Procedure
- Post Procedure
The welcome articles help users get acquainted with what a colonoscopy actually is and its purpose. Bowel Preparation informs what to do to get the bowels ready for the invasive colonoscopy procedure. The Day of Procedure page familiarizes users with the actual steps they will experience during a colonoscopy. Lastly, Post Procedure explains what someone who has just undergone a colonoscopy will likely experience and how to best recover from this mild procedure.
One of the primary benefits of the scheduling component is being able to input colonoscopy appointments as notifications. However, this isn’t much different than the convenience of the standard calendar app with most smartphones. What separates this schedule are the steps that automatically load after a schedule submission to:
- Begin a clear liquid diet
- Stop eating
- Take medication
